![]() ![]() ![]() Mixing them up will nearly guarantee that an old battery will get placed with newer batteries and cause them to fail earlier than normal. It is important that the set remain together so the set ages together. It will work with only 2 sets, but I like having a spare set charged up for a quick swap (they always run out just when the exciting stuff is happening!). 1 set in the yellow holder, 1 set in the black holder, and 1 set either in the external charger charging or kept in reserve to swap out when a set runs out. My process is to have 3 sets of rechargeable batteries. This post ( ) includes pics of what happened when their Pro-106 was plugged in while the batteries were in the black holder. There have been several reports of severe overheating, including damage to the scanner from doing so.Īlthough the design of the black battery holder is supposed to prevent the batteries from charging while the scanner is plugged in, this isn't a guarantee that it won't. Although the manufacturer indicates that it's OK to do so, many here do not recommend charging your batteries in your scanner, but to use an external charger. Let me warn you of something that's been discussed on these forums quite a bit with most types of battery operated scanners, including the Pro-106.
